Road to the Moon — Part 3

Okay ! Great news, Moon is now available at https://moonhq.fr !

I chose to start a web app instead of a mobile application for quicker feedback and faster iteration. Indeed, a web app is easier to deploy, I just have to deploy a React app to my webserver. Although it comes with some complexities (hello CORS policies), this allows me to share it quickly with potential users without even having them install the app, they just need to go to the URL

The app is still shitty on phone though but it’s improving, I’d like to release a new version every single week. Examples of things I need to do:

  • Improve the overall chat experience (better answers from Moon)
  • Add redirection links to every event
  • Improve the UX on phone
  • Implement filters so users can select which events they want to see on the map

The goal is to share each version with friends/colleagues, … Next iteration I’m going to share with colleagues.

The question is when will I be ready to share it publicly ? How do I define the app able to be GA ? I think this will be a step and I will struggle to consider it ready. Maybe the answer is : am I proud to show it now to the world ?

Then, next step is to start going to Moon events, talk to event organizers, … Maybe I could start doing so now.

And another side of the Moon’s strategy is to implement an efficient instagram communication. So I need to start thinking about that as well

So key takeaways:

  • Aiming for one release per week.
  • Sharing the app publicly when I’m proud of showing it
  • Start going to Moon events and talking to event organizers
  • Implement Moon marketing and com

I was listening to a podcast episode from Deep Dive. One of the speakers was the author the Million Dollards Weekend. And was talking about the 2 main fears or obstacles the entrepreuneurs face:

  • The fear of starting/doing: Stop thinking about how to do stuff and start doing stuff
  • The fear of asking

That seems to be a good read and the next on my list
